Triple-double
A triple-double is when a basketball player reaches double figures (10 or more) in three of the five major statistical categories in a single game, almost always points, rebounds and assists, though steals and blocks can count too. It is a benchmark of all-around brilliance: to record one you have to score, create for teammates, and control the glass all in the same night. A player who averages a triple-double across an entire season is doing something historically rare. Its flashier cousin is the quadruple-double, double figures in four categories, achieved only a handful of times in league history. Fans debate whether triple-doubles truly measure impact or can be quietly chased by a player padding one category late in a game, but nobody disputes the versatility they represent.
