UFC Flyweight

Flyweight is the division the UFC nearly deleted, and its survival is the most interesting thing about it. For years the company treated 125 pounds as an afterthought, reportedly close to cutting it entirely, on the theory that smaller fighters do not sell. Then the fights kept stealing the night. Flyweights combine the highest pace in the sport with a genuine finishing rate, because the speed does not come at the cost of technique, it multiplies it. The result is a division with a chip on its shoulder and a fanbase that evangelises it. The running argument is exactly that tension: does the UFC still undervalue its smallest men on the marquee, and does nobody-watches-the-little-guys hold up when the little guys keep producing fight-of-the-night contenders?
